Our founder, Vanessa Dias Pereira de Oliveira, knows what exceptional service looks like—because she’s spent her entire career building it.
For nine years in Brazil, Vanessa managed a team of 105 employees, overseeing operations, training staff, and developing the deep understanding of quality, leadership, and attention to detail that would later become the foundation of Butterfly Cleaning.
But life had a different plan. When Vanessa moved to the United States, she left behind that established career and started fresh—in a new country, a new culture, and a new chapter of her life.
Like so many immigrants before her, she arrived with experience, determination, and a dream. What she didn’t have was a roadmap. So she built one.
Starting with nothing but her expertise and her values, Vanessa began offering cleaning services in O’Fallon, Missouri. One home at a time, one client at a time, she built a reputation.
Today, Butterfly Cleaning serves over 60 homes throughout St. Charles County and the St. Louis metro area. But more important than the number is the reason: our clients trust us. They refer us to their neighbors. They become part of our story.
At the heart of Butterfly Cleaning is a word that guides everything we do: Mordomia.
It’s a Portuguese word that means stewardship—the belief that we are caring for something sacred that has been entrusted to us. We don’t treat your home as just another job. We treat it as if it were our own.
This philosophy is rooted in something deeper. It’s guided by a verse that has shaped Vanessa’s life and work:
